Aker Support Local School

For the third year running Aker’s head of Service Design and Transition was invited to the year 12 networking day at Lawrence Sheriff School in Rugby, Warwickshire. The event consisted of groups of year 12 students speaking to various professionals about the world of work in 20-minute “speed dating” style to maximise the value they got from each person they spoke to. This year’s questions were very CV and AI focus as the youngsters navigate a challenging job market where AI is both a tool and a threat at the same time.

Thankfully, Kato’s experience with Aker’s AI-ready infrastructure and solutions meant he was ideally placed to talk about how AI is used in the real world of work and how it can be leveraged to give the students the best chances of career success. The students’ feedback was positive with them remarking:

'Speaking to Kato was really helpful as ithelped me understand the IT industry much better''.

'Kato gave me great insight into the work that he does, it sounds really interesting and has given me lots to think about as I'm unsure which degree to choose'. 

As a follow up Kato is looking to hold a more focussed session for just computing students to he can help guide the next generation of IT professionals.
